Shells and dotfiles¶

At DIPC we support bash and tcsh shells. We also provide means to use alternative shells such as ksh or zsh. When a new account is created it defaults to bash shell. However, the default shell used to be tcsh, so if your account is old enough you might find that this is the case.

If you would like to change the default shell, please, send us a message.

We do not provide templates nor populate your home directory with premade dotfiles (that is, .bash_profile, .bashrc or files of the like). Therefore, is up to you to create and modify them.
